The main ways of traveling to the islands are by air or sea. Only one company runs a ferry service, The Isles of Scilly Steamship Company, which leaves from Penzance and docks at the Quay on St.Marys. The same company owns Skybus, who fly 8 and 19 seat aircraft from Land's End, Newquay, Exeter, Southampton and Bristol.
The other airline is British International who fly 26 seat helicopters from Penzance to St.Marys (and Tresco). I wouldn't recommend one from of travel over the other, (my Dad owns the flats an he works for Skybus, and I work for British International).
